ignorance is bliss

Filed under: whatever — justpete @ 3:38 pm

Fascinating Dividing Line today, reviewing The Passion. An RC caller near the end spends quite some time trying to convince listeners that, look, if you’re just ignorant of all the creator’s intentions, then the movie is GREAT! There’s NO REASON anyone should not see it!

Well, Gee. I wonder why you don’t find studies of Dr. White’s books on Mormonism in most Roman Catholic circles? I guess ignorance really is bliss.

  • P.S. Thanks to Thnikkaman (kev) for being a pain in the… I mean… for pointing out my type-o’s.

A passionate ninety-minute Dividing Line last night, responding to an article by Kevin Johnson, who in turn was responding to an article by Andrew Webb who describes why he is NOT going to see "The Passion of The Christ". You can listen to it, and review the information here:

I FINALLY recieved my copy of Debating Calvinism. It took over a week, thanks to the blizzard that brought everything to a standstill here last week. I almost thought about sending it back though, since it appears that someone scribbled inside the cover, but decided I didn’t want to wait another week for a replacement. ;-)

I’m going to refrain from comment on it at the moment until I’ve managed to get all the way through it. One word describes my feelings so far, though: frustrating. I think Dr. White will likely be commenting a bit on the book on the Dividing Line today. It’s sceduled to start half an hour early (4:30 MST – That’s 6:30pm Eastern, and 7:30pm for us here in Nova Scotia) so don’t forget to TUNE IN!

    way to go, doctor craig!

Filed under: prosapologian — justpete @ 9:10 am

I think some deserved cheers and thanks should be extended to Dr. Craig Evans, Professor of New Testament studies here in Wolfville (Acadia Divinity College). Dr. Evans appeared on NBC’s Dateline last night to discuss the final days of Jesus, in connection with the ongoing hype surrounding Gibson’s The Passion of The Christ.

Dr. Evans, who has earned a reputation as a vocal critic of the Jesus Seminars, showed immense respect for the Word of God in expounding what it actually depicts – in dramatic contrast to such anti-Christian representatives like John Crossan who support a mythological understanding of Scripture.

Thanks Doc! While accepting the Bible as that which it claims to be is fairly unpopular among “scholarly circles” these days, you continue to stand up for God’s Word in a God-glorifying manner. Praise God for His work among His people!

    Dr. Craig Evans
