Water under the bridge

Finally!  At long last, the final evidence has made itself known, and a debate my wife and I used to have is finally resolved.  I WIN!  MUAHAHAHAHAHA!  Well… sort of.
“Why is he cackling like a madman?” you ask?  Before Marsha and I moved into our home in Port Williams, we used to buy bottled water quite regularly, and I was always sceptical of it’s alleged benefits.  As it turns out, my scepticism was warranted now that Aquafina, PepsiCo’s bottled-water product, has been forced to admit that the glorious clear spring from whence this elixir comes is just a regular faucet from the public water supply (article here).  That’s right… Aquafina is just tap water.

I say I only “sort of” won the debate because there’s no question that Marsha preferred the taste of their tap water over Wolfville’s & Windsor’s water, making it a worthwhile purchase.  Plus, since moving to Port Williams, I’ve come to appreciate her discerning tastes in water as I’m completely spoiled for our well water.  I carry around a Nalgene bottle all the time just so I won’t have to drink town water.  So, when it comes to taste, then Marsha wins that part of the debate… and she’s cackling maniacally as I type this.  :-)

  1. There’s a valid argument that bottled water is really an environmental hazard – it takes more water to make the bottle the water comes in than water in the bottle:

  2. Yep, it’s hip to kick the (water) bottle and go for tap water (often a bit filtered is preferred).

You guys are just so trendy!!!

  3. Agreed, Mark. Thankfully Marsha was a re-filler – buying a bottle of water and then just reusing the same bottle. While that overcomes the manufacturing argument, it’s still another unnecessary, virtually indestructible petroleum product that eventually ends up in a landfill.

I’m just happy that our well makes lots n’ lots of yummy water with no bottles required.
